Time to nominate

The annual nomination period for the Johan Skytte Prize is currently open. We invite you to nominate a scholar or a group of scholars who have significantly contributed to the field of political science. Deadline for submitting nominations is January 22, 2024.

Nominations must be submitted electronically through this form.


The nomination letters, written in English, should be a minimum of 500 words. While there is no strict upper limit, conciseness is appreciated. Your letter should offer a clear and well-reasoned argument supporting the nominee's qualification for the Johan Skytte Prize. Additionally, each nomination must include the nominee's CV and a list of their publications. All the relevant nomination instructions can be found here.


The Skytte Prize is conferred by the board of the Johan Skytte Foundation, based on recommendations from the Skytte Prize Committee. The recipient of the award will be announced in April or May 2024

The Johan Skytte chair in Political Science and Eloquence is highly likely the world’s oldest active professorship in political science. The original donation made in 1622 continues to finance research and the Johan Skytte Prize. The prize money of SEK 500,000 is awarded every year by the Johan Skytte Foundation in Uppsala to those who made most valuable contributions to political science.
